Life Strategy:
Population Growth:
Northern fence lizard are R-strategy. Females lay between 3 to 13 eggs per clutch and have 2 to 4 clutches per year. Offsprings reach maturity after one year and usually live between 4 to 5 years.
Baby Lizards:
Lizards are usually 1 and 1/2 to 2 and 1/4 inches in length. They looks similar to adult females, but are slightly darker and duller. They are independent after being hatched.
Mortality Rates:
Males have a high mortality rate during early spring when establishing mating territories. Females have a high mortality rate when laying eggs. A majority of lizards die before hatching.
