In the winter, Northern Fence lizards hibernate in logs, stumps or rock crevices but may come out on warm days to bask. They breed from April through August. Females lay their eggs in a nest made out of soil or damp sawdust between the months of June and September. The eggs usually hatch between sixty to eighty days.
